Healthcare Risk Management
The purpose of this Society is to advance the development and role of
professional practice of healthcare risk management by:
- Conducting educational programs and activities to strengthen and
develop healthcare risk management programs and promote professional
development
- Providing a medium for the interchanging of ideas.
- Providing a forum on healthcare risk management issues and
explaining the impact of these issues to other appropriate parties.
Active members are employees of a healthcare provider who are
actively involved in the risk management function of that organization,
an employee of an affiliate of Mississippi Hospital Association
and/or active member in good standing of the American Society for
Healthcare Risk Management. Active members may serve as directors, hold
office and shall have the right to vote.
Associate members may be individuals who are employed by a commercial
insurance agency, insurance brokerage, insurance company, risk
management consulting firm or a company that offers service or products
to healthcare providers. Associate members may hold office and have the
right to vote in Society business.
The membership fee is $60 per year, per person and entitles the
individual to receive:
- subscription to the Society's newsletter,
- subscription to NewsWeekly, Mississippi Hospital Association
Annual Report, Mississippi Hospitals (a quarterly magazine),
- pertinent subject bulletins of the society
- directory of Society members,
- registration at educational programs with "member" tuition status
and
- and advocacy and participation in the political process which
directly affects the health care industry.
