Healthcare Education

The MHA Society for Healthcare Education promotes educational activities in hospitals or similar institutions by providing a medium for the interchange and dissemination of ideas relative to health care and professional growth. The Society promotes educational programs and also provides a platform from which health care educators may speak, identifying and defining issues that affect health care.

Individuals eligible for membership in the society shall be individuals with responsibility for healthcare education within a hospital or similar institution that holds active institutional membership in the Association.

The membership fee is $60 per year, per person and entitles the individual to receive:

  • subscription to the Society's newsletter,
  • subscription to NewsWeekly, Mississippi Hospital Association Annual Report, Mississippi Hospitals (a quarterly magazine),
  • pertinent subject bulletins of the society
  • directory of Society members,
  • registration at educational programs with "member" tuition status and
  • and advocacy and participation in the political process which directly affects the health care industry.

A very important part of the Annual Business Session for the Society of Healthcare Education is the presentation of the Distinguished Service Award. This award is given each year to a member who has made outstanding contributions to health care through his/her work in hospital education. This award recipient is selected from nominations by the membership. The Society has many deserving, outstanding members and this is an excellent opportunity to honor one of our own. Please give careful thought to nominating a colleague.

Should you have any questions or concerns about membership, please contact Diane Clift, Member Resource Coordinator, 601.368.3217, dclift@mhanet.org.
